Abstract

At this time networking technology evolving so rapidly, one of which is the Internet network that could be one source of information. Data communication technology is one of the fastest growing telecommunications, in particular on the
implementation of IP. Services based on IP also feel the impact with the standards continues to grow at the network layer is, therefore, the data communication is also accelerated. Many applications are based on data communications and currently operates not only in the LAN (Local Area Network), but also on the
WAN (Wide Area Network). These applications require a guaranteed level of service (Quality of Service / QoS) to operate. Therefore, it is fitting QoS known by many parties, such as the infrastructure provider, LAN administrator, WAN
administrator, service provider, which is associated with data communications. QoS is a term used to define the ability of a network to provide a guaranteed level
of service is different. Through QoS, a network administrator can give certain traffic priority. The research objective of this thesis is to improve the ability of local area network in the provision of bandwidth to each client without adding a large bandwidth. Methods Traffic Shaping Queue Tree as a method to regulate management and network bandwidth on the LAN SMK TB. Network specifications as well as the devices used and the stages of network quality measurement after the proposed improvements to the network using some new devices and bandwidth management with tree queue. On the use of bandwidth in all the space research happening substantial increases ranged from 61 to 75%. Packet throughput or number of arrivals increased by 80 to 82%. Delay or decrease the delay time with a range of 16 to 30% and packetloss also decreased by 3 to 16%.
